Marie Garel

My experience in Employment & Labour law allows me to work with employers who are concerned about their employment relationships and to have access to best practices in the field.

I invest a lot of my time in community involvement, and I am currently working on launching a rehabilitation workshop for children with congenital malformations. These inspiring and resilient kids make me celebrate life.

Biographie

Marie Garel has been practicing labour and employment law since being called to the Quebec Bar in 2011. Her practice covers all aspects of labour and employment law in defending the interests of employers in both unionized and non-unionized workplaces.

Marie advises employers on the reorganization of their activities, the pre-hiring and hiring of employees, the management of employees (performance, workplace investigations, disciplinary action, disability, etc.), labour relations, individual and collective dismissals, occupational health and safety, and human rights. She is also regularly involved in investigation and workplace environment diagnosis mandates.

Marie’s background in finance and her experience as the co-founder of a business allow her to better understand the economic reality of her clients and always recommend effective, practical solutions.

In-house experience

Mtre Garel has carried out two significant in-house mandates. She supported Bell’s labour and employment legal department for six months and replaced SCN-Lavalin’s director of labour and employment law for one year.

Experience in private practice

Marie started her career with Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) in 2010 in the labour and employment group and practiced with the firm until early 2019.
