Biography
André Turmel is a seasoned lawyer recognized for his cutting-edge expertise in energy law, natural resources, and decarbonized business solutions. His clients, national and international companies, turn to his know-how to seize opportunities in renewable energy and the energy transition.
André advises on energy regulatory matters and handles the drafting, review and negotiation of contractual agreements related to concessions, supply, production, transportation, and the sale and purchase of energy, both in Canada and abroad.
Experience in private practice
André practiced at Fasken LLP for 25 years, where he served as Senior Partner. He also co-led the firm’s global Energy and Environment practice group from 2018 to 2023.

- Representations before the Régie de l’énergie (Québec Energy Board) and government authorities.
- Project development and related transactions in hydroelectric, wind, solar, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas energy in Canada and abroad.
- Mandates from the World Bank and the African Development Bank in more than ten African countries on energy production and regulation.
