A seasoned lawyer, manager and negotiator, Sophie has extensive experience in real estate, commercial and public law, information technology, governance and privacy. Having worked for renowned law firms and corporations, as well as for various government departments, her versatile expertise enables her to provide high-level legal services and strategic support to business clients.
Previously senior legal counsel with major Quebec organizations, she has dealt with a variety of issues, enabling her to support her clients in their various legal and business needs, including all matters relating to commercial law, real estate, transactions, franchising, governance, corporate secretariat, corporate law, procurement, intellectual property, marketing and regulatory compliance. Recognized for her thoroughness, versatility and leadership, she employs a collaborative approach focused on delivering effective, concrete results for her clients.
Sophie was Senior Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary for two well-known Quebec organizations: CAA-Quebec and Groupe Saint-Hubert. For these two entities, she provided legal services to all sectors and entities of the organizations, while ensuring compliance of their activities. This included ensuring sound governance of the organizations, collaborating in the management of the companies’ risks, litigation, licenses and trademark portfolio, and negotiating, drafting and concluding commercial contracts at all levels.
At CAA-Quebec, she was also responsible for the protection of personal information, implementing the necessary measures within the organization to ensure compliance with Bill 25. She was also responsible for managing the real estate portfolio, including negotiating and concluding leases, as well as selling properties.
Sophie was also legal advisor for two Quebec entities, the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and Métro Richelieu inc. She negotiated and concluded various commercial contracts, and provided legal advice on a multitude of fields. She also advised on issues relating to real estate, procurement, construction, information technology and marketing.
Sophie started her career at the Quebec Court of Appeal, then practiced at Dentons (formerly Byers Casgrain), then at Holmested & Associés, S.E.N.C. In the latter, she represented a wide variety of business clients, and carried out mandates in real estate, commercial, corporate, financing, transactional, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property and litigation law.
